Okay, let me back up a little bit here and I'll tell you the whole story. I've been holding onto this news for MONTHS now. I woke up one morning to an email from British VOGUE and tabled it for after my kids were dropped off at school. I remember thinking, "I'll check on this later. I'm sure it's a scam." But it didn't ๐ญ๐ฐ๐ฐ๐ฌ like a scam. So after absolutely spending way too long to convince myself it wasn't real, I finally accepted it was and did plenty a happy dance in my studio. And it ๐๐ real. My artwork is in the April, May, and June issues of British VOGUE magazine, in their "Vogue's Gallery" section. I'm so grateful for the chance to share my work with British Vogue's readership, and my heart might explode to be in the presence of such amazing artists, makers, and humans out in the world. I owe a very robust thank you to the Vogue Gallery team for reaching out and inviting me to participate--I'm so grateful for the opportunity.
I am so deeply honored to be in the entire May 2023 issue, especially, because it is dedicated to making Disability ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ and to honor, in British VOGUEโs words, โโฆ๐ข ๐ฏ๐ฆ๐ธ ๐ท๐ข๐ฏ๐จ๐ถ๐ข๐ณ๐ฅ ๐ฐ๐ง ๐๐ช๐ด๐ข๐ฃ๐ญ๐ฆ๐ฅ ๐ต๐ข๐ญ๐ฆ๐ฏ๐ต.

Why am I so thankful that THIS issue has my artwork!? Well, many of you know I am not just an artist. Iโm also a certified and licensed Speech-Language Therapist (SLP). Speech Therapists provide skilled therapy and rehabilitation across the entire spectrum of life, supporting newborns, individuals requiring end-of-life care, and every age group in between. Disability advocacy, outreach, and support is a huge component of being an SLP, as our entire field fosters connection and communication of those in the Disability community. We work with those who require support, modifications, and accommodations to communicate their needs, wants, and ideas so that their unique and BRILLIANT voices can be heard and/or validated. We work with children whose language is just developing, with swallowing impairments, in stroke and traumatic brain injury rehabilitation, with people who have degenerative and neurological disorders, and in so many other areas. SO many. Truly, if you know even a few people, you very likely know someone who has seen or worked with a Speech-Language Therapist. And beautiful. I canโt even find the words to adequately express my gratitude.
